I have found that using my playing based method of teaching gives the student a lot more confidence because they're playing more interesting sounding pieces, using both hands from the get go. My discography includes the acclaimed Transcendental tudes and piano concertos of Franz Liszt, and Robert Schumanns three Sonatas for Violin and Piano (with Ara Malikian). I've recorded songs by Pauline Viardot- Garcia, which brought the me international accolades and a 2006 JUNO Award for Classical Album of the Year. With the Amici Chamber Ensemble, of which I am Co-Artistic Director, I have recorded Armenian chamber music and Levant, which won the JUNO for Best Classical Recording in 2013. Read More

For beginning students, I focus on building a solid foundation of vocal technique (including: breath, resonance, posture, register, and diction). We build this foundation through singing pieces that the student is familiar with and lots of vocal exercises. At the same time, I like to introduce basic music theory concepts.
