My teaching experience dates back to when I was a student at the Los Angeles High School for the Arts. While pursuing my own education I also had five private drum students ranging from the ages of 7-15. I am fortunate enough to have learned a great deal about teaching all different ages from my father, who has been a private guitar teacher for over 35 years. During my time at Berklee College of Music, I taught group clinics and while our tour with the Karen Lovely Band I mentored mentally handicapped music students in the Netherlands with a group called United By Music. Im pretty comfortable with a variety of methods but for children I enjoy using Alfreds method either for younger children or children over 7 . I also use Alfreds all in o e adult method along with a their greatest hits book to add more repetitive . All the series I use come with a cd of prerecorded tracks to play along with so its like youre playing with the band . All my students use a cd player as well. Read More

I think of two things as being central to my teaching style: Fun, and Growth. I think too many music lessons dry out the material, and suck the fun out of something that should be inherently joyful! I try to make every music lesson interesting, and keep my students engaged by giving them material that gets them hyped. I have been teaching piano for 34 years. I taught over 200 students from age 4 to adults. My teaching experience began from my university years. My professor hired me as a teacher for the class which we opened in the community. At the end of semester, the university paid me for teaching.
