Some highlights of my teaching career include working with A Gift for Music to give Title 1 schools access to the fine arts, being a cabin counselor and cello instructor for young musicians at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and providing private lessons at The Orlando School of Music. All these experiences created a burning desire for higher fine arts education, culminating in my part in the co-creation of the Central Florida Cello Association, an organization which provides the UCF cello studio with multiple masterclasses a year given by world class artists and acclaimed educators. I have to tell that in the beginning I was so nervous because each student was different, had different goals, styles and ability to learn. I believe each student is different. Therefor, lessons should differ depending on each students particular needs, taste in music, and age. I would never treat an adult student like I would a young student and vice versa. I always try to set weekly goals with each of my students in order for them to have something to work towards on a consistent basis. If my students don't reach their weekly goal I simply have a little bit of a review with them in the beginning of the lesson and then proceed with that weeks work. Read More

For my younger students, I typically start them out with the Essential Elements (Hal Leonard) book. As the student progresses through the book, I will introduce pieces of repertoire that reflect the student's abilities. Students are more than welcome to share music that they would like to learn, which is important in maintaining their passion for playing. For my adult students, I typically work with them on songs of their choice and guide them on how to play it on their instrument. Read More
