For violin, viola, cello and bass, I teach the Suzuki method. The Suzuki method is based strongly on memory and takes a systematic approach to introducing music of increasing difficulty. For classical guitar, I start off with the Frederick Noad system, "Solo Guitar Playing", and scales. As skill level increases, I assign more etudes and standard guitar repertoire. For acoustic guitar, I teach almost exclusively finger-picking. I teach the same high standard skills for acoustic guitar that I teach for classical, but concentrate on masterpieces of the repertoire. Read More

I grew up as a "military brat" and then served in the Marine Corps. Moving to many different states and overseas countries has made me more well-rounded and appreciative of cultures. I developed a greater appreciation for music, proving it as a universal language among people holding diverse traditions. From your very first lesson, I will have you playing simple parts in duet with me, so you get to make music from day one! I combine these simple exercises with learning notes and technique, so you'll always have a variety of skills to work on. I am a caring and spirited instructor, who loves being able to share my love of music by teaching others. I have a performance degree in violin, and am currently finishing my masters in music therapy at FSU. This degree has pushed me to refine my skills on a few secondary instruments, including piano, voice, viola, ukulele, and guitar. All of my students can expect to participate in the hundred-day practice method, which requires practice each and everyday (even if it is just scales or review). Once they hit one hundred days, they will earn a reward within the studio. Each student will be given their own specific "Violin Diet Plan" where they will be required to practice scales, learn musical terminology, develop right and left hand technique, study etudes, and learn solo repertoire (sonatas, concertos, show pieces, etc.).
