For beginners, I like to provide a custom packet of mine in which I send to my students to not only assess their current aptitude on the instrument but the packet will serve as a their fundamental guide in order to stay focused on progressing even while learning new and exciting music of their own choosing. Moving forward with Advanced, Intermediate, and Professional level students, I like to provide each level student the same materials and recommend the same books but in terms of personal music goals and solo repertoire, I would tailor the works to that student's progress level and what they plan to accomplish during our time together. My approach to teaching focuses on the importance of fundamental exercises. Along with this, I work with the student to create a dialogue that reinforces their interest in lessons. We apply these techniques directly to music-making in order to create a fun, satisfying, and rewarding experience. I have a passion for making music and I love to share that with others. When teaching new students, I believe it is important to establish that music-making is supposed to be a gratifying experience, with communication being a key factor: if a student doesn't understand something or needs further explanation, I am more than happy to work with that student so that they feel confident moving forward.
