My approach to teaching focuses on the importance of fundamental exercises. Along with this, I work with the student to create a dialogue that reinforces their interest in lessons. We apply these techniques directly to music-making in order to create a fun, satisfying, and rewarding experience. I have a passion for making music and I love to share that with others. When teaching new students, I believe it is important to establish that music-making is supposed to be a gratifying experience, with communication being a key factor: if a student doesn't understand something or needs further explanation, I am more than happy to work with that student so that they feel confident moving forward. I have experience teaching since high school, as I was a prominent member of the marching band and was given teaching responsibilities starting my sophomore year in 2014. Since then, I've taught marching band small groups, wind band sectionals, chamber group coachings including brass quintets and saxophone quartets, and some larger chamber groups of woodwind, brass, and percussionists.
