I base my every teaching style according to what the individual student needs . Teaching a class of 60 students is much different than a one on one class. No two people are the same and so they should not be taught the same exact way. For ex. For brand new students, I usually like to do an assessment of where they are starting in order to recommend the best method books to use that way there is no fear of being overwhelmed in the process of developing. Fundamental techniques are also used in order to gauge what direction to go as the instruction proceeds. For non beginners, I make the adjustment according to goals and desires so that the lessons are also engaging and fun regardless of age or ability. Read More

There are many acceptable method books for beginning students, however, I have found that if a student gets relatively comfortable on their instrument before trying to decipher a grand staff, they seem to enjoy the learning experience more. I love seeing students realize their own progress. I always like to start with recording a first attempt and then recording it again once it has been mastered so they can see their progress. I focus on positive reinforcement teaching. It is very easy, especially for a new student, to get bogged down in not making progress fast enough so I like to make sure they see all the steps they're taking and also know where it will lead them. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
