I've been teaching woodwinds and strings for about 8 years now, to students of all ages and abilities. In that time, I've worked with students making their very first sounds, all the way to helping my students successfully audition for university music programs (often receiving scholarship!). My training and certification in Music Therapy gives me an additional perspective on how music and musical ideas can be used to improve and assist all aspects of life, and in particular I enjoy working with students who possess learning or developmental difficulties. I began teaching saxophone in college, and since graduating I have taught students in Los Angeles as well as around the world, as far as New Zealand. I love to spread the knowledge I have gained from my experience as a professional musician to any up and coming musicians who want to learn. I teach all levels of saxophone up to the most advanced/professional, up to intermediate level on flute and trumpet, and beginner level clarinet. Read More

I'm 18 years old and I am extremely determined and a passionate teacher who loves teaching students and passing on what I have learned from my own teachers. I want to be able to share my experience and my love of music with other students. I began college at Los Angeles College of Music in 2017 and graduated with my degree in 2020. I am now currently studying for my Masters degree at CalArts in Jazz performance and Education. Read More

Through my own and other's experiences, I've found that taking lessons at the beginning stage of learning an instrument greatly maximizes a student's potential and increases their desire and passion for musical growth, versus a student never having the chance to realize the joys and benefits of music and thier own potenitial because they had no one to guide them propperly. I hope to be able to inspire musical growth through my own passion music and teaching. Read More

When teaching I always discuss the interest the student has first. I can adjust to any method of teaching. Once we establish their goals, I make suggestions of various ideologies. I prefer to create the lessons weekly, and use the idea of theory, harmony, melody and rhythm as a building block in order to enable a student to move at their own pace. I start a student from the point where they are in terms of theory. Read More

I see every lesson as a collaborative effort between teacher and student, and I always strive to create an engaging and positive environment, where students feel encouraged and motivated to advance their musical skills. For some, this may mean selecting a piece of music that is of particular interest to the student (perhaps even one of their own compositions), and tailoring exercises to work towards specific goals for that piece. By letting students practice how to improvise, students will learn not only the instrument itself, but also start to build a concept of ear-training, as well as music theory. To me, the music comes first than the music theory, which is why music theory always serves people's ear. I would have students learn how to play and hear chords, create a musical vocabulary and enjoy themselves. After letting them hear music, I will explain why they are hearing what they are hearing instead of letting them read it from a chart and not explaining why. Read More
