For younger students, I typically start teaching from Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, as it provides a comprehensive method for learning the basics on the saxophne. Once my students have mastered this material, I begin to introduce solo repertoire. For older students, I teach from etude books such as Selected Studies for Saxophone by H. I approach every genre with a strong foundation in order to make repertoire more approachable, such as learning a variety of scales, developing good tone, and working on method or etude books to strengthen the range of possibilities on their instruments.
