My teaching style feels relaxed but I work hard to keep students in their least restrictive environment. We dont want the student to be too challenged or bored. For this reason I am flexible with the content we work on and the order in which we complete different parts of the lesson. There is nothing better than seeing the face of a student light up when they grasp difficult concepts or sections of music. Positive reinforcement is the most important tool any teacher can have in their arsonal, and I try to praise my students every time I notice imporvements and support and assure them when confronted with difficulties. I set small goals, achievable goals for every lesson, so that my students can sense their progress in reaching their over-arching aspitations. Read More

Before I begin teaching a student, I sit down with them and discuss their musical goals, their lifestyle and vocal habits, and what music they listen to for fun. These questions will help drive my teaching of the student and helps me design lessons that will help them grow. I have a more laid back teaching style that is adapted to the student's personality and learning style. The last thing that any student wants is a stressful environment. Musical lessons should be challenging and have an element of fun as well. The student should leave the lesson wanting to come back to another lesson not feeling like they should put their instrument down and give up.
