My teaching style is a mixture of a relaxed, conversational feel combined with strong focus. I will constantly insist on stern focus on the material being played- offering big picture ideas as to why a piece is being practiced in a certain way, while asking the student to tell me why such and such a method makes sense. Very small mistakes in the music will be cause to stop and refocus. Read More

I am incredibly fortunate to have access to the resources at NYU and to love teaching music more and more every day: I have had practical experience in woodwind, brass, string, voice, and percussion pedagogy, as well as music in early childhood and for students of all abilities. My teachers include Jason Noble (instrumental conducting), Paul Speiser (choral conducting), Kim McCord (childhood/special ed music pedagogy), Ethan Hein (electronic music pedagogy), and Christopher Bush (clarinet performance). Philosophy Every student, musician and person is different. I think it's my job to find out what inspires and motivates each student, and guide them towards their goals. I think it's important that it has to be fun to be interesting, and the other way around, only then can the student reach their full potential as a musician. At the core my goal is for the student to improve, and enjoy how wonderful it is to play music. Read More

I make it a point to ask all students (or parents for my younger ones) to purchase a notepad where assignments, expectations, exercises, tips/tricks can be written down to help them progress during the year and into the following week of lessons. My favorite aspect about teaching is pushing students beyond the limit they place for themselves. That being said there must be a mutual understanding that I will do all I can to help students get over a "learning hump" as I call it- I have access to a plethora of journals, articles, teaching websites, a personal library, all of these materials can be scanned, printed out, emailed and whatnot for the benefit of my students. I am a passionate and caring instructor who loves working with students to build a long lasting love of music. I attended New York University for my Bachelor of Music and McGill University for my Master of Music. I am constantly continuing my education with private clarinet instruction in New York City. I frequently attends woodwind workshops and seminars by artists/ensembles such as Ricardo Morales, Anton Rist, the Imani Winds, and the Fifth House Ensemble. Read More

For the past 5 years, I have actively taught private lessons for saxophone, flute, clarinet, and piano for students of all ages. I have found that no matter the age, experience, or instrument, that teaching music is ultimately about discovering and cultivating inspiration. I truly believe every person has something in music that they want to express, and I want to help them find and expand upon it. I think it is crucial to focus on technique and musical fundamentals. My teaching method is different for every student based on age, level, and their musical goals. However, the two things that I try to keep consistent among all of my students is a solid technical foundation and curiosity for different musical styles. For beginners, I typically start with the Rubank Beginner or Intermediate method book. Once the student has progressed to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo repertoire along with any pop or jazz songs they might want to learn. Read More
