My teaching includes all aspects of music; Musical theory, sight singing, as well as Music History. My teaching style allows the child to have fun while they learn their instrument, but I emphasize a strong practice regiment. Your child will understand that while learning music and an instrument can be fun, there will be some work involved if they want to become great. I usually use either the Alfred or Rubank method books to supplement a curriculum that I tailor make for each individual student. Any question or confusion a student has about anything during the lesson will be explained in detail and dealt with until he/she understands the concept. I've had many students pass all levels of the ABRSM and NYSSMA exams as well as receive academic scholarships for musical excellence.
My students will excel because I train them to control the instrument and to thoroughly read and understand written music. All students need to be concerned with tone production, articulation, phrasing and musicality. These points are stressed in every lesson. I encourage parents to sit in on the lesson so they can gain a better understanding of my methods and actually see results. I supply students with music that I have written that will greatly enhance their technical ability. In addition to demonstrating everything on the instrument that they are playing I also support my students by accompanying them on piano and guitar.
I am a passionate educator and performer from the greater Boston area. I love to see my students succeed and achieve their musical goals. My students have gone on to the college level at University of Massachusetts, Lowell, and University of New Hampshire. At the undergraduate level, I played with the UNH Wind Symphony and the UNH Symphony Orchestra for three years. I have had two full solo recitals at UNH, and I have had the opportunity to be recorded on the Wind Symphony CD: The Music of Daniel Bukvitch. Upon graduating with two degrees I moved to New York City. Between undergraduate and graduate schooling I honed my teaching craft. I taught lessons to a wide variety of ages and ability levels. I also taught public school for a non-profit organization called Education Through Music in the Bronx. At the graduate level, I play with the New Music Ensemble, Robert Dick Large Flute Ensemble, various chamber groups, and orchestra. I also continue to perform in New York City with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony
I began teaching when I first got to college 8 years ago. Since then I have developed a lot as a teacher, but there are certain tenets that haven't changed since I first began taking private lessons when I was 12 years old. I was a member of Region and All-State groups in Middle School and High School and I encourage my students to enter these competitions as it keeps them motivated and working towards a goal. For those interested in jazz, I am very capable of getting them ready for High School Jazz Band auditions as well as college audition. I have taught students who were brand new to the instrument up college music majors, so I am always accepting students of all ages and skill levels.
I have always enjoyed music and playing music and found it natural to play for my friends and family. And weather it was in school orchestra, garage band, or friends with guitars, I shared my knowledge with other players. The best part of teaching for me is when I introduce some new material and explain it and the light bulb goes off and the child gets that big eyed look, I see that the student understands it. And getting to know the person who I am working with is important so that I can choose music that is fun to play. I've led orchestra sectionals and currently have elementary school students, a girl and two boys.

Saxophone can be a pleasure to learn at any age or level. We have adults who are total novices, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. Our teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
New saxophonists will learn the basics of caring for the instrument, as well as how to hold and properly assemble the sax. Students will learn correct breathing, how to develop a beautiful tone, articulation, and how to form the proper embouchure. All Musika students will be exposed to music theory and the process of reading music.
The minimum age for beginning saxophone is around age 8. The students needs to be big enough to hold the instrument properly- even with the aid of the neck strap- and have the lung capacity and hand strength to play. Some band programs will start young players on clarinet before allowing them to switch to sax.
Saxophone students typically begin on alto sax. Yamaha, Selmer, and Jupiter are good brands to start. For reeds we would recommend a 1.5 or 2 thickness. Reeds will need to be replaced regularly. As the player becomes more comfortable he or she may switch to reed with a greater thickness or 3 or 4. For this reason, Musika recommends consulting the teacher before buying reeds in bulk.
In-home saxophone lessons are a convenient option for improving your musical skills. In-home lessons are virtually the same in every aspect as lessons taught in a studio. You can let Musika know what days and times work best and the teacher will arrange to teach lessons in your home for the same price as in-studio lessons.

Angela is a phenomenal teacher. She is full of charisma and is a joy to work with. Most of my experience with her has been focused on working in the Alexander Technique and she seems very knowledgeable in this study. I would highly recommend her to any prospective student. thank you musika and ed. I never thought of looking for an in-home lesson until I found musika. I have absolutely no hesitation that Ed is beyond capable. He's even offered to meet us at a music store to purchase the correct fitting instrument. how fabulous is that! We've also decided to extend the lesson time from 30 to 45 minutes. All this and just one lesson under our belt. He quickly understood where my daughter is at in level and her style of music. I'm thrilled as can be.

Brett is an accomplished musician, who shared his knowledge at a level that my five year old understands. Our daughter has only been playing the piano since March. Tony replaced our other teacher who had a job transfer and could no longer teach. Tony is fun and encouraging. We value Chelsea for the quality of her lessons, but also for the flexibility of her schedule. She has worked around family vacations, impromptu summer camps and the upcoming school year. Erin has been a wonderful voice/piano teacher for our 7 year old daughter. She is talented, patient, and has a wonderful demeanor. She has been consistent with her teaching in piano and voice. Eduard is an amazing teacher. (Coming from someone who previously knew the basics of playing and music.) He is not to harsh with his words and is extremely nice. Eduard has a great amout of experience and displays it through his teachings. Specifically by making it easy to follow along with his words to actions. My daughter, Valarie is one of the original members of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble under the guidance of Aaron. He patiently worked with Valarie as well as the other five members individually and as a group to produce music that has been shared and enjoyed locally as well as nationally. He has the ability to seek out the strengths of each student while building confidence. Through his teachings, not only had Valarie learned how to produce and enjoy music, but also responsibility and so many life skills for everyday living.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
