Instruments: Saxophone Flute
For younger students, I find that book based methods are very helpful, and typically I go through the Hal Leonard Essential Elements Series. Once the student has a firm handle of the basics of saxophone (fingerings, embouchure, dynamics, etc.) then I start having them read etude books, and prepare pieces for recitals and other performances or auditions. For adults, I like to teach based on a goal oriented program. For example, If I have a student who is only interested in learning the saxophone for the sake of playing "Yakety Sax" or "The Pink Panther Theme", then I will tailor the lesson plan towards learning that while still working on the fundamentals of Saxophone along the way. My passion for teaching goes way back to my middle School years when my band professor would let me teach the younger grades. Throughout the years my love for teaching has increased, watching my students grow in every lesson, watching them achieve their goals is what inspire me to keep the hard work. It very important for me to encourage daily practice and it's very important that parents do too. Read More

I typically tailor my lesson plans to the needs of the student. In general, I will allocate appropriate Etudes, Scales, and Repertoire that is inline with their abilities and the standards of their particular instrument. If they are preparing for an upcoming performance or audition, that may take precedent. But I also think there is equal need for unstructured time that allows students to explore music as a creativity medium via music listening, exploratory exercises, improvisation, or even composition. I value my student's love for the content they are learning. I seek to hear what students like to listen to and what music they enjoy, and using that information figure out how best to give listening recommendations and assignments. I hope that by allowing students to express themselves through the music they love, a strong relationship between the student and music can be cultivated for my student and me. Read More

I've been teaching since the end of high school, when my saxophone teachers enlisted me to help give lessons to some of the younger students in their own after school jazz programs. Since moving to New York I've taught lessons privately from my home studio and traveling to students homes, as well as teaching group lessons in several after-school programs in the Bronx. There is nothing quite like the satisfaction of teaching music, and I get a special joy from seeing my students grow and progress. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Music
I like to make things fun and cater to each student's abilities and needs. I like to work from books with beginning students because music literacy is very important to me. As students develop, I begin ear training and diving deeper into music theory when necessary. I think in order to grow as a musician you need to play music that inspires you and I aim to have all students wanting to practice because they are excited about their repertoire. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Saxophone Clarinet
For beginner students, I typically start with rote lessons that teach the basics of the instruments. Then, I move into performing basic, pedagogically-appropriate scales, and begin curriculum in the Rubank Elementary Method books. For more advanced students, I usually have them start with the intermediate or advanced method books, and we learn more advanced major and minor scales, followed by arpeggios and chords (if on piano.) Overall, my main objective is for students to have fun and make meaningful connections. Read More
