It's really important to me that students enjoy what they are doing in music. It is a skill that has endless possibilities for creativity, expressing emotions, and connecting with others. This is what I want my students to learn and to bring with it a passion for music they can have for the rest of their lives. For younger students, I typically start teaching from Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, as it provides a comprehensive method for learning the basics on the saxophne. Once my students have mastered this material, I begin to introduce solo repertoire. For older students, I teach from etude books such as Selected Studies for Saxophone by H. Voxman or Jazz Conception by Jim Snidero. In addition to learning from etudes, students will develop their solo repertoire. Read More

I taught the saxophone section the basic fundamentals of saxophone, along with properly assembling and taking apart their instrument. This helped evolve my skills for new and beginning level music students to make playing instruments fun, enjoyable, and not too overwhelming or difficult to dull their desire to learn and progress.
