For beginners, I like to start with the Rubank method books, which progress pretty rapidly. I also focus on tone production and scales as we move along at the level of the individual student. I gauge the speed at which we move based on the student in question, and prepare a practice routine for each student based on how much time they have to practice each day. For my beginner saxophone students we will start by assembling the instrument and using the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to learn the basic fingerings and songs. As for my beginner piano students we will start off with the Faber Piano Adventures book and work our way through the lessons. Piano: I use most beginning methods, including Alfred, Bastien, Piano Adventures (Faber), and other standard piano methods.
