Additionally, I encourage students to actively listen to recordings of pieces they are learning, fostering the development of their musical ear and interpretation skills. Performance opportunities play a crucial role in my teaching philosophy. I organize recitals and encourage students to participate in local competitions and events. These experiences provide platforms for them to showcase their progress, build stage confidence, and develop a profound sense of achievement. By creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, my aim is to inspire students and cultivate their love for music as they progress on their piano journey! Read More

I start of my lessons by asking how much the student practiced for the week. Then I ask them if there was anything that was confusing for them so we can work on that first. I let the student pick what they want to start with first and then I will pick the next exercise. I finish with giving them a homework assignment and making sure they understand what to practice for next week. Read More

Vocal metamorphosis is my goal for each singer. I guide singers to achieve that in a warm, honest, fun loving, and diligent way. Singers leave each lesson with a practice journal where goals for the week are clearly noted. I care deeply about my students and am thrilled that many of them who have moved away still contact me to share their successes or to seek advice. Read More

My methods of choice for instruction are many due to the amount of instruments that I teach and the many levels of mastery within each concentration. I favor many of the Berklee press books for music theory, voice, keyboards, genre studies, guitar, bass, composition, ear training, harmony and arranging. The Schirmer library of classical piano pieces is often used. Read More
