I have been teaching piano for a year so far and it has been one of the highlights of my musical life. I love to find innovative and fun ways to make music theory and technique easier to understand for young minds. My #1 goal as a teacher is help students grow a passion for music, and equip them with tools to use for a future of music-making and music-enjoying. I like to set goals for my students. I generally work out of lessons books, solo repertoire, and whatever else the student brings in. If the students have music from classes in school, I will also assist them with that. I try to keep the lesson light, and enjoyable! I use a variety of methods for my teaching style. I usually have a few method books that I bring to a first lesson, and after meeting the student I will decide on the best one. Once the student has progressed and shows some motivation to be slightly challenged, I'll introduce "popular" music so that the student feels a sense of accomplishment!
