I started teaching at the prep department of the conservatory in 1992, and have been teaching ever since. I teach all levels - from beginners to intermediate to advanced students at the university level. Regular practicing is essential in retaining progress. I give my students a combination of classical and popular repertoire to expose them to many different styles. If they are interested in composing their own music, I definitely will help with that as well! Read More

Through the course of study, the student will gain not only a thorough knowledge of flamenco history, but learn the intricacies and nuances of playing flamenco guitar. Beginning Piano: For young children, Alfreds' Basic Piano Library is a great place to start. Fun sing-a-long exercise are employed while learning. And for adults, there is the Chord Approach for the late beginner or their All-in-One Course Book I, which is an expanded version I have found to be a very comprehensive step by step method that quickly launches the student to playing piano. This will vary given the student's abilities and particular intentions for study. In general, I focus on five distinct areas of learning: technique, theoretical understanding, reading, intuitive playing/learning by ear, and performance. I like to keep each lesson fluid and organized, by maintaining structure within segments of study. Within these segments we may venture into something unanticipated, so long as the student expresses interest, readiness, and the ability to learn. Read More

Music is one of the highest arts we have, often described as a universal language. I hope my teaching encourages students towards forming their own answers for "why?" and helping them to discover the "how" with every piece of music they work with. Together with my students, I want to help them find a higher purpose for the act of preparation, practice, study, and performance, so that these come from a genuine place. Read More

For beginning young students, I typically start with Music Tree or Piano Adventure. Once the student has progressed, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adult students, after seeing their level of playing, I would find the style of music that they are interested in. If students are interested in learning specific music pieces, we can focus on that until feeling comfortable and confident then move on to similar style so we can keep that interest going then move on to more advanced pieces.
