My first lesson is a casual meeting with the student (child/parent, or adult). I want to both meet and start to develop a good relationship and understanding with all involved. With younger students I talk with the parent and show them what we are working on and the logic behind it. Of course, this strategy applies to adults as well. In 2012, I graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelors degree in Music Education with a dual focus in Jazz Studies. I graduated from Arizona State University where I studied music theory and composition. I have a special passion for composing music, and finished 3rd place nationally in the Music Teacher's National Composition Competition in 1987.
