Greetings! I am excited to share my gift of teaching piano which includes music theory and performance to everyone most especially children.  I was born in the Philipines and moved here in the US to pursue graduate studies.  I have travelled around the world and have performed in Paris, Prague, Toronto, Mexico City, Manila, and here in the US. She won the 2007 Concerto Competition at ASU and was a finalist in 2006, and has been featured as soloist with many community bands in the Southern United States. She is a member of Trio de Caf and has performed with several Phoenix area organizations including Arizona Opera, Symphony of the Southwest, Paradise Winds, the Mill Avenue Chamber Players, and the Fountain Hills Chamber Players. Stefanie is on the faculty at Mesa and Glendale Community Colleges and maintains a large private studio in the Phoenix area. Read More

I believe in teaching music theory as well as technic and expression, no matter how young the student is. I believe the piano is a wonderful springboard to learning and exploring other instruments.For piano the student will study out of the theory and lesson books. Other types of finger excersizes and supplemental music will be used, there is a ton of free music online!I may also use other aides to teach the student such as flashcards, musical games, note finders, andcomputer games and sites.For the guitar I typically use Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method but then Ialso use lots of music found online free. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students having fun! My goal as an educator is to engage every student through fun games, activities, and chamber music no matter how much experience they have with music. Students are always encouraged to explore different styles of music. In order to track a student's performance and progress, they are required to have a journal. I teach how to read music and mainly use Faber & Faber method for both children and adults. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Faber and Faber primer level. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce scales and solo repertoire. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
