I teach the student as much as they can absorb while making sure they understand the material.I have never run out of material to teach.I teach proper technique and about scales because every song written is based on scales.I also work on songs with the student at the same time so they can see and understand how the songs and scales are used together. After the basics are understood we move on to songs the student wants to learn.I can also tailor lessons to a students wants or needs if desired.I have been doing this quite a while and understand what works. By trying to find out what inspires each student, I can customize their instruction to help develop a passion for their instrument. Nothing is more rewarding to see a student enjoy and become a confident musician! I allow each student to move at their own pace, but always challenging them so they do not become bored. Each student will need a small notebook for each week's assignments as this communicates to the student and parent what expectations have been set for the next lesson. Read More

With students learning or continuing education on the piano, like to start with the basics. Once the student begins to have a grasp for that i begin to introduce reading music and theory. I also like to prepare the student to play any genre of music by sheet music or by ear as well. As far drums i also start with the basics, once the learn and grasp that we continue by learning different techniques of playing as well as teaching basic rudiments and how to read music and play drums by ear. My main goal in teaching music is to build a good foundation. Not all music students will go on to major in music, and that's OK. Music offers invaluable experiences for everybody involved, and I have seen music change lives. There is a lot of evidence that music helps in school performance and test taking, and there is evidence that music helps to build organizational and critical thinking skills. I like to build a positive relationship with my students, and I encourage progress in order to make students eager to learn more. Read More

Lately I've been teaching my little brother piano playing on the side when I go over to my parent's house, he is really enthusiastic about playing for me and asks many questions while aptly listening to me. I also help out a couple of my friends that either used to play the piano or are just interested in the instrument and need a primer to get them going. I really enjoy when I can make others passionate about something I love by my example and that is why teaching is so wonderful. Read More
