For piano, I have had 8 years of training and have won many competitions. Some people might understand everything from the get go, some students need graphic support, some student need to learn song to understand what they are doing. Setting goals is one of the first topics I discuss with my students, and then indicate some of the steps they need to take to achieve the goals that they set for themselves.
