For all beginning students , I typically start with Mel Bay's Guitar Method and Hal Leonard but I also like to throw in some of my own personal lessons that can help students grow faster. Once the student has good understanding and grasp of the fundamentals, My student and I will both decide on repertoire that they can play according to their abilities. For adults or more advanced players, I try to find out what their interested in playing. Read More

I have my special teaching method "PPP" which refers to "Passionate, Personal and Professional". "Passionate" - I believe that music should help people find the beauty and happiness in their lives; "Personal" - Teaching should be very personal! Everyone has a different background and we are all unique! I always custom lesson plans for each of my students and we could discuss about your personal plan; "Professional" - No matter if you are learning music for fun or you have a goal in pursuing music as a career, I would always teach and help the students to improve the musicianships under the professional standard. I match the individual method that I use to the student. I try to incorporate all the fields of musical study; performance, technic, and as mentioned above, improvisation, reading, and composition to give the student a well rounded approach to musical study, all the while keeping it at a level that is both fun and challenging for the student. I have taught music since 1994, when I was in college. What was at first a part time job blossomed into a full time job when local music stores and luthiers began recommending me. I have a strong roster of about 30 students, and maintain it mostly through word of mouth and recommendations. I teach out of my private studio, as well as people's homes. I have trained students for recitals, recording, various types of bands, and competitions. Read More

I tend to edit my teaching style based on how successfully my students meet their goals. I honestly love teaching young and beginning students because they're an absolute blank slate, something I do not take lightly. Having fun and establishing a strong practice routine is paramount with younger students. I emphasize listening to records/music with all students but especially with more intermediate to advanced students. If I have a student that wants to become a more competent jazz player I'll try to recommend some famous records with tunes that are commonly played. Read More
