I have taught in a variety of settings including children through teens and adults, and children with disabilities, both online and in person, one-on-one and in groups. I started in 2014. I have found that the best method includes positive motivation, which includes both encouragement for what the student is doing successfully, and also pushing the student in areas where they may feel hesitant. If the student enjoys the lesson and feels positive, they'll be less hesitant and excel! Read More

Music has been a part of my life since I can remember. I have my parents to thank for that! I'd be honored to be part of your musical journey. Performances may come and go, but music is a gift that will stay with you forever! I've been playing trumpet and piano since I was 8, and have taught and played professionally for nearly twenty years, adding various qualifications, certifications, skills, and experiences to my repertoire along the way. In voice, you must think as an instrument and as a person as well. Every person is different, so the method. There are extroverted and shy persons. I am always respectful and patient with my student's pace and personality. Everyone is different, so I put a lot of effort to take out the very best from my students. If I cannot help, I am very honest to tell you to change professor. Read More

I have been teaching out of my home off and on the last 25 years. I've been the master piano teacher, rock band teacher and concert director at a music performance school the last few years but I'm back to my basic love of teaching since I've just relocated to the West coast. Because progression will produce a passion for your instrument whether it's piano or vocals, I emphasize regular and consistent weekly practice at home with times varying depending on age and proficiency. It is really fulfilling for me to see my students use the knowledge they gain from my instructions to improve their playing level. Effective practice habits are agreed upon between myself and each student. Goals cannot be achieved without effective practice habits. Students are encouraged to participate in their community and school music performance activities, enter competitions and do music examinations. These activities build self-confidence, help students to develop a sense of accomplishment and measure their progress. Read More

If the student already has a grasp on the fundamentals, my focus goes to exercises that extend range, fine-tune timbral sound, build technical flexibility, and expand dynamic range. The repertoire is typically "suggested" by me (to reinforce learning objectives) but is not "officially picked" without the approval and enthusiasm of the student. I also heavily emphasis repertoire analysis because I believe that a student's musicianship operates at a higher level when they have well-rounded knowledge of the piece they're playing. Read More

I really covered this in the above information,so continuing in more detail,it really depends on each individual student, their level of ability and age that determine the course of study. It also depends on the instrument. Some instruments like piano, violin or viola, books are more practical because the music is notated. With most fretted instruments, music is written in tableture which was originally used for the lute and brought back i think in the 1970s.Its easier than reading music and is more practical for those instruments.
