A pianist from my earliest memories and a piano teacher since 8th grade, I have loved, studied, and taught music for most of my life. I completed a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Washburn University under the teaching of James Rivers, then completed two Master of Arts Degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary. My students generally focus on vowel shape, vocal placement, breathing technique, and expanding range through knowledge of the head, chest, and mix voices (including belting). Essential Elements, especially for string players, offers an incredible foundation for beginners. One thing I really love about those books is the use of scales from the start. After completing both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at that school, I continued with my doctoral studies at Cornell University. There, I continued to teach music theory and aural skills classes, and taught beginner music students the fundamentals of notation. After my graduation in 2015, I went on to become Assistant Professor of Music at the Conservatory of Ipek University, in Ankara, Turkey.
