Each person is unique. I like to start my lessons by getting to know my students through assessing where their passion(s) lie. I know that each student progresses at their own pace. I help them set realistic goals through the development of lessons that serve as a measurement for growth. I believe in giving positive reinforcement to my students because as fun as playing the music is, I find that it can be a tough process when trying to learn. Read More

To be honest, I didn't become serious about teaching in the arts until I went to graduate school from 2019 - 2022. There, I co-taught a class in the winter 2022 to undergraduates and realized I enjoyed teaching a variety of artists and helping them to feel more open in sharing their art and artistic practices. When I graduated, I knew that the next logical and intuitive step for me was teaching. Not only do I want to help others achieve their goals, I also feel that teaching pays homage to all of the mentors and teachers I've had throughout my life. Read More

Teaching is my passion. I started playing the violin at the age of 6 years old. Music gave me confidence in school and in my life. When I was in elementary school I found out that reading comprehension was difficult for me and so I had to get tutoring. I was very strong in music and that boosted my confidence in school. I have a lot of patience because of this but I also have high standards because I know what my students are capable of doing. Read More

I use the Alfred teaching method in my lessons, however I do not stop there. Over the years I have developed my own sense of method which I have incorporated into my lessons. For children and Middle school level students I make use of the iPad and a MIDI keyboard to help them learn musical notes and music theory. I use a variety of music apps to help and guide them with a fun activity to learn and develop their reading skills. Read More

I primarily use the Bastien teaching style. The musical concepts are taught in a progressive and logical manner and thus are easy to follow. The student is given time to experience a new theory using a hands on approach. Then, the student works on theory in written pages. Finally, the student applies what is learned in new pieces as they go forward in their musical instruction. Read More

My methods change according to the ability, age, and personality of my students. I always use a variety of materials for both young students and adults to keep them interested. I enjoy spending the time needed to address proper practice habits, so that students are able to make the most of their time at the piano. I strongly believe that a traditional classical foundation is helpful for all pianists, but encourage both kids and adults to explore all the repertoire that they love. Read More

I have been a professional musician since I ws 14 years old. I enjoying accompanying and have played many musical theatre productions, recitals, church services, and choral concerts. I have taught privately and in public schools since the late 1970's. My greatest thrill is working with students who are eager to learn, willing to practice at their craft, and willing to laugh and have a good time. Sharing musical talent is so easy and so rewarding.
