I have most recently worked as an After School Program Coordinator at a preschool in Marietta, GA. I also have experience as a music director for a theater company, a counselor for summer camps, a music teacher for preschool and elementary schools, a volunteer for several organizations, as well as being a private piano and voice lesson teacher. I have recently relocated to Atlanta from Los Angeles, CA. I have worked with children as young as 4 for private piano lessons. Read More

I have an easy going personality and like to have fun so I try to make my lessons feel the same way. I'm not overly harsh or judgmental but instead I try to make each lesson a true learning experience where there's no pressure and the student is free to make mistakes (even encouraged to take risk and make mistakes) in pursuit of their passion of music. I believe when a student feels free to be themselves with their instrument it will result in a faster learning curve and more excitement to learn. Read More

I like to start out with the Hannon Book. That has various excercises that helps with note recognition. Worksheets will be given out with those as well. Teaching students HOW to read notes, and HOW to recognize them takes a few weeks so that's normally what i like to start with. Once they grasp those fundimentals, then we move on to learning songs they are familiar with such as London Bridge, This Old Man, Mary Had A Little Lamb etc. Read More

Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice Keyboard Acoustic Guitar

I encourage my students to have notebooks, recorders, and to learn basic accompaniment via keyboard or guitar. This will help them to expand on their practices at home and feel empowered to create music on their own. I like to keep track of my students accomplishments and enjoy encouraging them along their musical journey. Each student comes with their own unique abilities, talents and training and I believe it is my duty to meet my students where they are at and gradually bring them towards where they desire to be and where I also see their greatest potential. My students will enjoy their lessons, especially if they are taking the time outside of the class to practice and hone in on their skills. My main attitude is that this should be a time away from traditional school or work, where a student can relax, have a good time and learn new techniques and nuances of music performance and theory.  I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement. No performance is perfect, but no mistake should be without encouragement. Read More

I began my teaching experience in the Bronx, where I created a music program in a very large public elementary school. In additon to a full schedule of general music classes, I directed over 200 assembly programs involving students from Kindergarten through 4th grade.  I also developed an after-school Chorus program, putting on Winter and Spring concerts, as well as several Broadway musicals.  In 2001 I transferred to Mount Vernon, where I was able to continue and expand my program, incorporating concert band and all-grade musical performances for students from Pre-K to 6th grade. My teaching style is simple; each student is an individual and unique, therefore everyone progresses at their own pace. I take pride in getting to know each of my students, that way I can tailor my instruction to fit their needs. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
