My cello instruction is separated by levels and books. Level 0-1 is in Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books 1 and 2. Level 1-2 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 1, as well as sheet music and books outside of that method book. Level 2-3 is Rick Mooney's Position Pieces Book 2 and sheet music, and 3+ will be Rick Mooney's Thumb Position books. I have taught violin for 5 years to beginners and intermediate level students. My youngest student was 4 and my oldest was 65. I have a lot of experience teaching beginner level but I also have experience teaching intermediate levels and some advanced levels as well. I have helped students prepare for orchestra auditions and for recitals. I mostly teach classical level repertoire to give my students a basic foundation of music. It is important for students to learn the classics first to prepare them for other forms of music later on. Read More

Once the fundamentals from those books have been understood, I will start the students on repertoire that is appropriate for their level.
