I am a committed and caring teacher and performer who is extremely dedicated to my passion for making and sharing music. This past summer, I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a first class honors masters degree in violin performance, from where I also received my undergraduate and teaching degrees. For young students, we pick beginning repertoire to use based on the kid's and parents' interests. As we explore the interests of the student within our initial framework, I continue to make suggestions as to where we may have the best success. For adults, I teach based on the interests of the student; however, I also encourage a jazz and classical-based pursuit, as this will inform most other styles of music and strengthen the performance ability and musicality of the student. Music is a great art form to express emotion and passion for something we cannot say in words. In church, I teach the choir to express their feelings of joyfulness when praising God. Outside church, I've taught privately in piano and voice for twelve years, five with Musika. I always encourge my students to practice with patience daily for 15-20 minutes in order to successfully progress. Most importantly, they must have fun, smile and play/sing with excitement. Read More
