I absolutely love teaching music and watching my students grow in their musical skills and confidence!  I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and studied clarinet with Dr. Theodore Jahn and piano with Margaret Strahl.  While at UGA, I played with the Redocat Marching Band, Symphonic Band and various woodwind ensembles.  Recently I have been playing clarinet and piano with the Gwinnett Community Band and volunteer with different homeshool band groups.  I have also played piano for church and weddings and volunteered with the children's music ministry.

I began my teaching career in 2009 and have been consistently teaching students of all ages for the past 5 years.  My goal was to perfect my teaching style and to really make a difference in the lives of those artists I encountered. I have experience in and have studied a wode range of styles and genres in both voice and piano, and enjoy encouraging my students to reach their full potential. Having fun is my first priority and eliminating the common expectation to be a "certain kind of singer/musician" is my second priority. Music is art, and in my lessons we celebrate our uniqueness, our natural talents, our abilities, and our goals and learn how to find ourselves as artists and improve OURSELVES.

It's important to cultivate a student's musical knowledge by building upon their current foundation. Similar to the way children learn a language, music students of all ages should start by listening and singing/playing before learning to read and even write. Combining this natural approach with a focus on how and why to develop good technique helps students get the results they're looking for.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, I began playing piano at the age of 5. Throughout my childhood I took private lessons in piano and voice. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC and a Master of Music degree from USC, where I studied under pianists Marina Lomazov and Joseph Rackers. My work with students of all ages spans far beyond teaching, having worked for two summers as a staff collaborative pianist at Interlochen Center for the Arts in northern Michigan and playing for numerous children's masses and concerts. While I enjoy the opportunity to perform, my primary pursuit is teaching, using my professional experience to educate students by exploring the beauty of music. I teach students their favorite songs, as well as thefundamentals and techniques needed to achieve their musical goals.

One of my main jobs after graduating The Institute of Production and Recording was teaching music lessons. Since 2011 I've taught drums and piano lessons for various companies from ages 3-40. To see a student who has a serious passion for music grow from not knowing anything about the piano or drums to making music is probably one of the most fulfilling feelings I could have. I believe making a connection with the student fuels the connection to the music. A passionate teacher helps make a passionate student!
