For older students, I will either use Bastien or Alfreds lesson and workbooks. This is mixed with a classical and folk book. We also work on theory, and making sure we know our intervals. For piano, I typically start with Hannon's piano exercises, and then move on to repertoire which highlights specific technical challenges, such as crossed hands or mixed meter. I use my own lesson plan. I'll start with Hal Leonard for young students, and hanon's virtuoso pianist for more advanced students. I'll use theory lessons mixed with what the student actually enjoys, because it's hard to learn what you're not interested in. I'm flexible and will adapt to the student's needs. I try to find what motivates the student to play, and guide them accordingly.
