I have taught multiple beginning flute and voice students throughout my college career, as well as assisting the music students at Rolling Hills Elementary School in Mukwonago with their head start program. I wish to continue on into graduate school for Music Therapy, and for this reason, I also have experience working with both adolescence and adults that have developmental disabilities. I do insist that each student practice one to two hours a day based on what they are taught. This includes, but is not limited to finger exercises, drills, posture and any thing that will make playing better for them. I teach vocal students from ages 6-adult. We work on breathing techniques, music theory, interpretation, and style. I like students to sing their favorite styles. I also expose them to songs that I feel would be appropriate for their growth. We also work on performance and auditions! I started lessons at the age of 3 and have been active in music ever since. I was in the band in high school, and the piano ensemble during college. I graduated with High Honors from DePaul University with a BA in Music and have been teaching individual music lesson ever since. Alfred Publishing piano courses (both older and newer), Faber and Faber, Bastien, Edna Mae Burnam, and the Hal Leonard course have all been among my pre-published methods that I have used over the years. I have also adopted some technic content from elsewhere. For example, the Zion Conservatory of Music, where I taught from 2004 to 2018, uses a couple of different customized scale patterns for first- and second-year students.
