I teach with patience and encouragement, and have strong experience teaching beginners- early advanced levels. I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance, and have taught students in various locations, including Los Angeles, Diamond Bar, and Seoul. I have taught for Yamaha Music school, private music schools, and have performed on the piano for over a decade. To be honest, I didn't become serious about teaching in the arts until I went to graduate school from 2019 - 2022. There, I co-taught a class in the winter 2022 to undergraduates and realized I enjoyed teaching a variety of artists and helping them to feel more open in sharing their art and artistic practices. When I graduated, I knew that the next logical and intuitive step for me was teaching. For my younger to play games with them that teaches them the fundamentals of music theory while also having fun during the lesson. For my older students I like to see what gets them excited during the lesson and move forward accordingly. That can be extremely different from Student to Student but I do like to stay involved with the process and positive throughout. For beginning string student's, I use Essential Elements for Strings and Schroeder method books. Once the student has grasped the basic fundamentals and note reading, I begin to introduce solo repertoire from the Suzuki String method. Along with technical studies and solo repertoire, the student will learn scales ranging from one to four octaves. For beginning piano student's, I use the Bastein Piano series. People don't realize how important daily consistency can be, even for a short span of time. As students grow and become more comfortable on the horn, I slowly start introducing more and more advanced concepts, while still giving them room to experiment on their own and discover their own interests. There are a few exercises that I will continue to enforce, but for the most part, I try to avoid pushing any student in a certain direction when it comes to repertoire because the most important thing is that they stay engaged and develop a passion for the music.
