I have been teaching since 1984 and now I teach from my home studio. I am not trying to make my students the best in the world but I want them to love music. My students have accomplished many goals. They have all had the chance to perform in recitals. Some have won scholarships to private schools and colleges, gotten to perform at Disney World to record music for a movie soundtrack and have won top music awards from their high school graduations. I recommend that anyone starting to learn music begins at the age of ten simply because of finger strength and focus. I also try to ensure that they practice at a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes a day between lessons to help them reach their full potential. I stand by the "practice makes perfect" saying wholeheartedly. I give small amounts of homework after every lesson and try to create a fun environment for learning that is stress-free. Read More

For my young beginning piano students, I apply the Piano Adventures Method by Nancy and Randall Faber. For my older beginning piano students (13/14 and up), I apply the Alfred Adult Piano Method to ensure the material meets the student at his/her academic level. As for all woodwind students, I apply the Reubank Methody (Beginning, Intermediate, Advance), alongside Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for students currently in a school band. Once each student has reached a satisfactory level of performance, solo repertoire is then introduced. Read More

I have a vibrant personality and I love teaching, especially when it comes to helping students grasp things where traditional teaching methods have proved to be intimidating or unaccommodating. I have performed in a variety of ensembles and have produced multiple volumes of my own compositions. My musical background is rooted in jazz, funk, soul, and latin music, and my teaching method will tend to emphasize "grooves," with a special eye toward harmony, syncopation, comping, and improvisation. I am a motivated and adaptable instructor, with patience to students. Since I had been playing piano accompanying at Peabody Preparatory for three years, I had observed multiple teaching styles with different instructors ( includes private lessons and group classes). The two most important things I found out is to help students explore their love in music and let them enjoy when they are playing their instruments. Also, setting goals and help them achieve their goals is an efficient way for learning piano. Read More
