Besides, I placed a higher priority on solving my students difficulties. Students may sometimes feel frustrated when they could not overcome some technical problem in piano playing. Being their piano teacher, I will provide some exercises and solutions for them to help them overcome their difficulties. Also, students may encounter some difficulties outside the lesson like doing badly at school etc., and they might share them with their teacher during the lesson. Read More

I create play-along videos, so that kids have something specific to practice at home. I use "Read this First" as a note reading book. Students play along with me and also by themselves at lessons. Eventually kids can gather together and play as a group if they wish to do so. I start with memorization, and easy ways of writing down the songs... and eventually kids will learn to read music, after they've secured a basic technique. Read More

My teaching style is laid back with the full intention of moving forward in both technique and enjoyment. Each Lesson is geared toward the Goals we agree on as Student and Teacher. Depending on age and experience, I set goals at 3 months or 6 months. It is crucial to allow the student to learn at his or her own rate. Again, I strive to find the Creativity in the Student and to see how that can be developed as quickly as possible, especially if they are interested in songwriting, singing, composition, or simply doing their "own thing". My methods are adaptable based on the student's previous or current instruction with private teachers or their school teachers. For all students I love to play along and model concepts for them. I involve a lot of kinesthetic movement based lessons along with visual and aural aids. I get to know the type of learner my student is and then plan my instruction to fit their learning style. I am a fan of etudes and short technical exercises as well as long tones for intermediate to advanced students. Read More

After spending 4 years in Malaysia, where I worked with the Kaleidoscope Ensemble for the Society for Contemporary Music in Malaysia. Read More

I believe everyone has a song in their heart, and I take it upon myself to give them the tools to make it come to life. Every student needs to learn the basic fundamentals of music theory, ear training, rhythm and dexterity. However, experience has shown me how differently people learn, so I zone in on what works best for the student and customize lessons towards their own goals and strengths. Read More

Being a teacher is by far one of the most rewarding choices that I have ever made. Seeing a students growth and development is absolutely astounding. I believe that each student is very individualized, and no student learns exactly the same as another. As a teacher, I believe that I need to constantly be adaptable and adjustable to each student's needs. I also want the student to enjoy the learning process; it is important that the student knows that he or she is making achievements and enjoys the rewards of his or her hard work. Read More
