One of the best parts of teaching is seeing a student accomplish something they previously thought they couldn't do. I'm here to tell you that you can do it! Whether you want to learn to play some tough classical pieces or some of your favorite songs on your instrument, or just develop a deeper understanding of music as a whole, I can help get you there. As a teacher, I think it's important to take a broad view of the impact on music education on students of all ages. Read More

Ever since a child, I've loved learning, music and sharing my passions! Through grade school I grew into the role of a leader and a musical/visual artist. In 2018 I graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelors in K-12 Music Education with a minor in Spanish. My years of teaching grade school has reaffirmed my passion for teaching, and drive to be the best teacher I can. I've also been a composer/arranger for decades, including doing works on commission as well as having the joy of getting my music performed. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For beginning students (children) I use the Piano Adventures books by Faber also with a notespeller and possibly some Hanon exercises. For beginner adults I use the adult beginner Piano Adventures, notespeller, and Hanon. So for any student there is a combination of music theory, finger exercises, and learning how to play and enjoy piano music. Once my student becomes more advanced I will encourage them to play short classical pieces such as a waltz or prelude, or a piece of music of their choice. Read More

My approach to teaching piano is designed to be both inspiring and engaging, fostering a deep love for music while ensuring meaningful progress. I begin by assessing the students current level to tailor lessons to their individual needs. From this foundation, I focus on developing three key areas: 1. Technique Building finger strength and precision through targeted exercises. 2. Stylistic Understanding Enhancing comprehension of the composers style and cultural background. 3. Musical Knowledge Introducing the basics of music theory, as well as the history and literature of music. Read More

My teaching approach is tailored to the interests and goals of each student, but always includes fundamentals such as scales, strength-building exercises, rudiments of theory, and ear training. Some of the method books I've used include the Faber "Piano Adventures" series, Alfred and Bastien series, and Hanon's The Virtuoso Pianist, among others. I always supplement these materials with arrangements and transcriptions of popular songs and classical pieces, along with original exercises designed to teach specific styles and techniques. I believe every person learns differently and thrives off of positive reinforcement, which is why I base my curriculum solely on who I'm currently working with. Every student I work with has their own specific curriculum. Every week I'll have an assignment for the student to practice that will be expected to be completed. This will be the gauge towards their improvement. As we work week after week, I will be observing what inspires the student most and conduct assignments and based on that. Read More
Instruments: Piano Flute
I have had the opportunity to work with many renowned flutists such as Jonathan Keeble, Ransom Wilson, Leonard Garrison, Aaron Goldman, and Juno Lee, and I strive to use my experiences to help others in their playing. I have also been playing piano for 8 years! Although piano is not my main instrument, it was my first instrument. Non-music wise, I love to hike, hang out with my friends and family, and bake.
