Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.I would love to give my students opportunities to give recitals in public because that is a way to check themselves of what they actually learned from class and also that will gain their confidence and interests of playing piano in public. My teaching experience started in high school when I started teaching harp and piano part time. I had a close relationship with my music teachers growing up and I hope to establish the same type of relationship with my own students as I have with previous ones. It's also important that there is a balance between fun and time put in. Without practice, one cannot play an instrument well. It is a great joy to see students learn, grow, and have fun! I begin by asking the student of their goals, and eventually help them develop new goals as they explore and find their unique gifts. Students are provided with a unique, well-rounded program tailored for them, including the foundational resources and understanding needed to fly with other musicians. Each student will find that I am looking into their musical interests and strong points as an outlet to keep the lessons personal and relevant, including compositions written just for them, while continuously stretching them to the next step as they advance to their vision. I will start to present solo repetoire suitable for their first recital show when a student has gained an understanding of the basics. I enjoy discovering the new sounds in music and writing when inspired. Currently I am apart of a worship team at my church and I play keyboard but I find I play mostly without sheet music.
