Piano Lessons in Atrisco, NM

Instruments: Piano

My husband is in the Air Force so I have had the opportunity to teach students all over the country for over 15 years. I like using the Faber books so that the students learn their notes, theory, and all aspects of music. Students stay motivated because I meet as a group to play for each other and have small recitals. They of course have the option to participate in these activities. Read More

I keep lessons tailored to each student's needs and skill level.  Students come to private music tutors for many reasons and some do not include a "passion" for the art , itself. Some wish to develop an appreciation for music to which they listen, to gain a greater knowledge of music literature, or to acquire skills for a passtime they find relaxing and enlightening. Occasional testing for retention of basic knowledge, plus technical examination for practical skill progress helps to keep the student on track with regards to his/her own goals.l Read More

I like to create lessons in which students learn to read traditional music notation, develop technique, and play familiar tunes. I use musictheory.net to help student practice reading note names. The faster a student can read musical notation, the faster the student can pick up new pieces. To develop technique, I want students to lean scales and arpeggios. Sometimes, we use a technique book to develop muscle memory, and other times technical exercises are created based on the tricky musical passages of solo or ensemble pieces. Read More

My goodness! Teaching for me began in classes of four to five kids, with no materials aside from our little keyboards and one music book. We had a blast there, and I look forward even more to being able to teach children and adults on a one-on-one basis! I am a collaborative teacher, and will guide you through different lesson options and curriculum that best fit the student’s learning style and age. Read More

I strive to create a fun and engaging learning environment for my students. My teaching style is rooted in the belief that students should be allowed to explore and experiment with the material they are learning, while also having a strong foundation of technique and theory. I have taught both privately and in a classroom setting. In addition to my school performances, I have also played with many bands since the age of seventeen. In general, I have been teaching since 2004 and it is the best job in the world! I absolutely love teaching and I always apply an enthusiastic mindset when I am teaching. Some of my students who have taken lessons with me have moved on to join the school band, play at concerts and competitions, and write their own music! Testimonial from BM: One of my student's parents recently commented to me in an email the following about her daughter: "She LOVES piano and she ADORES you...everytime we leave, she comments, 'Adrienne is the best piano teacher ever'."
