First lesson I start by assessing what level the student is at and what goals they have with their music and develop a lesson plan from there. I focus first on fundamentals of sound and technique to build a foundation for the student then work on scales and repertoire to get them playing music. From there it is a focus on musicality and performance. A lesson plan for example may be working on solo repertoire by breaking down the piece by focusing on different elements that make the song; the scale, they rhythm, certain patterns by measure, techniques required, etc. Read More

My methods include a wide variety of resources. For beginning students I like both the Hal Leonard and John Thompson approaches. Along with the lesson books, i also encourage technical studies including scales, arpeggios and other studies to build up finger strength, dexterity and independence, As the student progresses, I introduce memory work, choring and basic improvisation. For the more advanced student I let them work on repertoire of their choosing, stressing a variety of genres and styles. Read More

I believe music literacy is one of the most important aspects of learning an instrument. I've always said, "not being able to read sheet music is like trying to be a writer who can't read, it makes no sense". I also begin with teaching proper form. For the begining for those students that they don't know music i teach them the basic, for example i start with the rhythm and after the fundamentals. They are going to learn how to read simple notes. Once they have a grasp of the fundamentals they are ready to be introduce into the piano. For the students that already know the concept and how to play the instrument, I ask where they are and I continue to provide them more so they can continue in there progress. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated from King University in 2016 with a degree in Music Education as well as a focus in piano. Music has been my passion and focus since a very young age. I have had various piano performance opportunities. From playing in competition with my 4-H group, playing for my college theater department for their plays, accompanying an elementary choir, performing an hour long solo recital in college, to playing for a City Council event.
