I began my journey teaching in college when I became a tutor for underclassmen and women who desired extra guidance and insight in certain areas, which included music theory, composition, and performance. Since then I have taught in-home, in-studio, and online lessons regularly for over 5 years. Currently, I have upwards of 40 students of varying ages and levels, all very motivated and engaged in music. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the lesson books you or I provide, preferably Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I am a fully-certified music educator of over 20 years: I have taught both middle school band & choir to at-risk youth for 3 years, as well as elementary music at a private Christian academy for an additional 3 years.
