I studied with my Dad who played for Duke Ellington. I went to city college in NY where I learned much about jazz history. I've played with the Ellington Band and learned much about music. I am very passionate about drums and started teaching about 4years ago and I have helped many students get to where they want to get on their instrument. I started teaching the piano right after I got out of college. From that day, the number of students began to slowly grow. I am always willing to go to the students' home for lessons as most students prefer that method, but I also have my home studio to teach from as well. It was a great honor. Late into highschool I was accepted at the DCI CADETS for 3rd trumpet part. This is the second best drum corp (at the time) in the world out of over a dozen different division 1 corps. I unfortunately was not able to perform with them, however it was a great honor just being able to be accepted and to practice with them for 4 months in New Jersey. Read More

I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on.
