Over the past 13 years, I have taught piano, music theory, and music composition to a diverse group of learners, including school-age children, college students, and adults of distinct backgrounds. From 2014-2018 I received the Graduate Teaching Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, where I led piano courses for non-Music majors, and held weekly recitations and office hours for required courses for Music majors. I meet with students for an introductory lesson. We discuss their goals. I suggest method books, online learning tools, and other strategies that they can use while they study and practice. During lessons, we review songs, techniques, theory, and other concepts that they are studying and need to improve on. I have been taking lessons since the age of three.  I've studied with many different teachers and I love music as a way of life.  I love teaching as much as I love playing and couldn't imagine doing any other job. I love working with a variety of students so that I can help them achieve their goals. I have been playing piano all my life and at this moment I am giving private lessons to beginners and looking to expand my student base. I was an Organist from October 2007 to December 2008 at Our Lady of Victory, where I played for a choir with over 15 hymns in my repertoire and performed for a congregation with over 200 participants on a weekly basis. I believe that once a student enjoys what they are doing - that's where the true learning starts. I want to encourage the student to push their limits with their instrument. However, I will make sure that the student plays within their skill level to avoid bad performing experiences. If they want to play a piece that is out of reach for them, I may pick a piece that is very similar to that one with a goal in mind to one day work up to that piece. Read More
