  Music is my heart felt passion, and I thoroughly enjoy the oppotunities of sharing my musical knowledge and experiences with my students.  I am a degreed music teacher, who travels to teach in Raleigh and  surrounding areas including Knightdale, Wendel, Garner and Clayton.  I first began teaching guitar and piano during my music studies at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. I'm a fun, energetic teacher who enjoys helping students find their inner passion for music. In 2012, I graduated from UNC - Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Mathematics. While studying composition under Dr. Allen Anderson, I premiered and recorded pieces for brass trio, wind quintet, percussion ensemble, and soprano with piano accompaniment. For students who are children, I have a vareity of teaching style opportunities including the Suzuki Method, Essential Elements, Janice Rhoda's Complete Techniques, and other teaching methods. All of my students recieve education in music theory, rhythm, aural skills (voice/ear lessons), performance techniques, sight reading, and of course intrument technique. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 40 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 20 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. There is something completely satisfying about seeing a student's face light up when they understand or master a concept. Unfortunately, I've dealt with insufficient instructors in the past, and nothing is worse than feeling like it's your fault when you mess up as a student. My musical experience began at a very young age when I used to listen to all sorts of music. When I first got to making music, I was around 19 years old, midway through college. I started composing electronic dance music and enrolled in courses to learn more while changing my college major.
