In my teaching approach, communication, respect, discipline, and perseverance are some of the most important values. I always ask students about having a purpose and being confident to ask and discuss about it: what do they want to accomplish in a short, medium and long-term. I have taught in all levels from beginner to graduate, including amateur players. Which means my teaching style is flexible, the students participate in their program design. Read More

It's so amazing to see my students develop an appreciation for music at all levels! I teach by experience and what has been the sensible to me in learning music. I simply get right to the major points that develop the musician in my students all while concentrating on technique which is so important! I always like to be open to what the student's goal is when studying to play the drums because I want to meet their needs. Read More

I was born in Marshall, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Fine Arts in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I've spent seven years in public schools in the surrounding Houston area before coming on to teach with KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2012. My primary instrument is violin/viola under the training of Dr. Isidor Saslav, but spend my weekends on bass for community events and local performances. Read More

Adapting, innovating, and dealing with what is there to work with, I listen for what the student needs from me and anticipate where they are going next. My expectations for my students remain consistently high. I believe it is a moral imperative as an instructor to expect the best from each and every pupil. Not only does this affect the process of learning for the individual but also influences the community at large, challenging others to strive toward their best. Read More

I am a music-loving teacher and eager to share and enjoy with my students the marvelous experience of making music as a way of personal growth and development. Since I was 13 I started singing and playing guitar. At 16 I started doing it professionally and managed to take my art to a large part of my country (Venezuela) and several Latin American countries. I have great experience in the area of popular music, live singing, recording in a studio and breathing techniques and antistress that I can share with my students to facilitate the easiest and fun way to make music. My teaching styles are ever-changing but first and foremost I strive to meet the student where they are at in their musical journey, work in small chunks and learn to love the act of learning. Timing, technique, tuning, dynamics, timbre, music theory, writing, recording, listening improvisation (and more) are all crucial to being a modern musician but the most important of these is fun. If you aren't enjoying my teaching then I am not doing my job correctly. Read More
