In 2014, I was also featured in the Acoustic Guitar Magazine May 2014 issue, as one of the "30 Great Acoustic Guitarists under the age of 30." I studied classical guitar performance with Bill Coulter at the University of California, Santa Cruz. There, I also received masterclasses with classical guitarists, Andrew York, Benjamin Verderi, and Grisha Goryachev. I have also studied with acclaimed fingerstyle players such as Alex de Grassi and Thomas Leeb at their summer workshops. Read More

As a dedicated musician, I love working with students of all ages and levels to inspire creativity and passion. I completed my Masters in Music in Cello Performance from the prestigious University of Michigan under the direction of Anthony Elliott. I have performed all over the world as a soloist and chamber/orchestral cellist, currently performing as core cellist of San Franciscos contemporary chamber ensemble, Ensemble for These Times, and principal cellist of Opera San Luis Obispo on the Central Coast. Hi everyone! My name is Cole and I've always had a great passion for music. In elementary school, I played violin and trumpet, later switching to baritone and euphonium in middle school. It wasn't until high school that I finally landed on guitar after my best friend bought me a cheap Stratocaster for my birthday. I graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and a minor in Psychology back in 2022. Read More

I design my lessons with the specific student goals in mind. For Beginner students: we will start by exploring rhythm concepts and understanding how to read music. Learning the physics of the guitar and exploring the notes in the first few positions. Learning open position chords, and simple chords progressions, major and pentatonic scales, etc. For Intermediate students: we will continue expanding our knowledge of the higher positions of the guitar, as well as develop better sight-reading skills. When it comes to my teaching style, it is important for the student to learn at their own pace. I will set goals for my students based off of how he or she learns so that they can progress in a way that is comfortable for them. I will never push the student to where he or she is uncomfortable and become discouraged and lose interest. I also encourage the students to ask any questions that they have and that should never feel embarrassed about their questions. Read More

I Love teaching music, and love helping others progress on their musical journeys! I've played music for as long as I can remember, and spent my childhood learning just about every instrument I could get my hands on. As a young adult, I rigorously practiced piano and studied music theory, eventually writing an 80 page thesis analyzing jazz piano improvisation in college. Now, I like to spread my love of music by showing others how much joy it has brought to my life, and helping them to experience that same joy. Read More

My teaching philosophy is student centered. I realize that every student is different in their physical or mental capabilities; that each student has different expectations with their relationship to music and with themselves; and that each student has their own strengths, insecurities, and pace of learning. Focusing on what makes each student different and unique is what guides how I teach each student. For example, I've had a handful of students with autism who had limited verbal capabilities.
