If the student is not in middle school yet, then they will most likely start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. As students progress, more material will be added later. For intermediate students, I would begin to add solo repertoire and would most likely also add the Clarke Characteristic Studies. I graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Theatre. Over the past 5 years I have had 7 beginner piano students and 10 voice students of varying levels. I have taught ages 5-10 for piano and 11-20 for voice.
