I am a friendly, easy going musician and teacher with a passion for not only music, but helping others succeed in their musical ventures and desires. I picked up my first guitar at the age of 13 and have been hooked since! I recently graduated in December 2016 from the University of Alabama with a BA in Management. Luckily, my time at UA allowed me to expand my music hobby into a way of life as I have been in several successful musical acts and bands over my time as student. Read More

I feel that it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and assignments for my students at each lesson. This measurable progression of accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Of course finding out the students problem areas is also paramount to helping them progress at the fastest rate possible. I also believe that while our relationship is professional, I do take a personal interest in each of my students as some of the best teachers I have ever had, took a personal interest in me. The reward of teaching is seeing a student progress and gain the skills needed to propel themselves forward musically. I work hard to help students develop and cultivate their passion for music and playing music well for others. Nothing is more important in music than finding love and joy for playing one's instrument. Through setting consistent goals and acknowledging a student's accomplishments I help fuel a student's motivation to play through steady progress. Read More

For beginning students, I like to start with some starting note learning drills on paper or going through some beginner books. I am a firm believer in that the more a student practices reading music, the easier it will come. I realize that some students learn music better by ear, and I will work to develop that skill alongside the essentials of reading the music on paper. As they progress, I hope to introduce different kinds of solo music in order to teach different skills and techniques that are involved, while still keeping the music fun and accomplishing the goals that the student wants to accomplish. I have been playing guitar for 30 years now. I began performing with various bands at the age of 14. I am thankful to have had talented musical mentors (band members, teachers, songwriters, studio musicians, professional musicians) to learn from and grow with over the years. I began teaching guitar back in 1991, while attending Samford University. I have continued to teach over the years since then, both part-time and full-time. I performed with various bands (of my own and joining with others in) throughout high school and college. Read More
