I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Once the student has worked in fundamentals and get a better understanding of the instrument, I will begin introducing solo repertoire appropriate for his or her level. Most of my lesson plans are customized for each student, depending the style they are interested in, and the level that they are already playing. Generally speaking for beginners, I begin with teaching about the instrument (string names, frets, tuning, etc.). Then we move on to chords, starting with the easiest ones to play.
