My method of teaching puts emphasis on the keyboard fundamentals that develop sound piano technique. I use a systematic approach in which the student progresses from their present level, whatever it may be, beginner, intermediate, or advanced, to their next level in a reasonable time. For my beginning students who are children, I typically start with Standard Of Excellence. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. While I was in school I had a graduate assistantship and taught voice elective students and musical theatre freshmen. I also had my own private studio while I was in school. Usually with beginner students the Hal Leonard book is a good place to start but I'm willing to start with any beginning book. I complement that with the Suzuki method and other fun easy songs I have picked through the years of experience .
