My experience teaching dates back to my late years of high school, as I began teaching private lessons 3 years ago to younger classmates, and students at the local junior high. I am now currently teaching multiple students throughout the Piedmont triad area as well as online Skype lessons in trumpet fundamentals, classical and jazz. Encouraging and establishing a daily routine is a major element in progressing a students ability on their prospective instrument as well as forming a bond and passion for the music. Read More

I begin all students on snare drum. This allows for the proper development of hand technique that is the base of percussion. I teach the original 26 rudiments along with the Breeze Easy method books for beginners, or students that do not read music. With the drum kit I encourage students to become familiar with as many styles of music they can. I use the blending of styles to help mold the student from a drummer to a musician, and help create an individual sound; Read More

Most teachers use a Hal Leonard beginning book. Essential Elements (EE) is popular, as well as Accent on Achievement. I'll be using EE for beginners. I drill ear training, and will have the student memorize simple songs to beginning not only increasing their repertoire, but a fun way of practicing scales. Depending on the level, there are different books that are appropriate, however I focus on the fundamentals with each student and add on. Read More

My teaching began in the first year of my undergraduate degree. I was hired on as an adjunct to coach sectionals for a small school who later went on to get high marks on their marching assessment that year. Following that, I taught lessons to those same students. These students were able to place high in honor bands. I also have experience with teaching students who were starting on day one of playing. When working with younger students, my approach is twofold. First, I like to work with Alfred's Basic Series to establish a solid goundwork for reading music and mastering technique. Second, I like to cater the lessons to the student's particular interest, whether preparing solo pieces, practicing theory through ear training and sight reading, or writing compositions. For adults, I like working together to determine the student's goals to keep music-making challenging and engaging. Read More

Teaching has been my passion for over 15 years and I strive to help students achieve their goals no matter how small or large they may be. I try to create a relaxed atmosphere where students can be themselves while still holding them accountable for their practice. Whether it's learning to strum a few chords so you can play along with some of your favorite songs, or learning to perform classical, jazz, or rock in front of an audience, I strive to set short term and long term goals to help students reach their full potential. Instruments: Piano Clarinet Music
I have been teaching clarinet and piano since 2019. For each student, I focus on developing healthy practice habits (physically mentally) that allow them to be efficient and rewarded by their time spent with the instrument. I help students build a strong foundation of fundamentals so they are able to be successful working on more advanced literature. I'm always excited to help students at any level explore music as a means of learning about and expressing themselves, while gaining and improving upon this new skill. Read More
