I started playing snare at 10 and drumset at 14 focusing mostly on rock drumming. I played quads and quints in marching band in high school and bass drum in college. I then studies jazz and percussion at Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. I then studied Music composition at University of North Texas. After gaining a full schedule of students, I decided to initiate semester recitals to allow students the opportunity to perform in front of an audience. It is one of my favorite memories as an instructor! The pride on a student's face after they've demonstrated something at which they've worked so hard is the ultimate reward of teaching.
